PIT- Rumours are swirling that the Penguins will trade for Jarome Iginla of the Flames. The rumour is considered to be "questionable, at best"

CAR- Upcoming free agent Ray Whitney has expressed interest in staying with Carolina.
CAR- Anton Babchuk is expected back with the Hurricanes after spending last year in the KHL.
CAR-Rob Brind'amour is contemplating playing out the last year of his contract or retiring.
DET- Wings have started negotiating with Todd Bertuzzi on a contract.
PHX- A third party has stepped up in wanting to become the owner of the Coyotes
BOS- Marco Sturm underwent knee surgery and is expected to be out 6 months.

HC- Hockey Canada has come out and defended Sidney Crosby for not accepting invitation to play at the WHC in Germany. The IIHF released an article titled "Saying no to your Country" which included the likes of Crosby, Zetterberg and Nick Backstrom. The IIHF is saying that being tired is not a good enough excuse for elite athletes who are 22 years of age. Scott Salmond, the men's national team director for Hockey Canada, called the story "inappropriate."

Corey Perry and Ray Whitney both sided with Crosby also as they know how tough it is to play a 82 game schedule, an Olympics and playoffs. Perry is the only Olympic team member playing at the Worlds.
